Number One of The Top Ten New Year’s Resolutions.

One of the top ten New Year’s resolutions is to increase physical activity by exercising three times a week. This seems simple enough, so why do so many people set this as a primary goal and give it up in the first 30 days?

Does Health Determine Fitness or Fitness Health

My life and health struggle overwhelmingly confirm that a person’s health is determined by the identity they chose, refined or settled on, and our habits are formed from that identity.

I am a living example of how it is possible to change your identity and, in doing so, change the habits that conform to that new identity.

So, while it may start with a New Year’s Resolution unless you have all the support you need to change your identity, the habits that brought you to the point of needing to make a New Year’s resolution, your goal is destined to stumble into that 92% of people who fail in the first 30 days.

Physical Activity by Exercising Three Times a Week

  1. Start by walking for 30 minutes three times a week. As you become more comfortable, try increasing your walking time and intensity.
  2. Add strength training exercises to your routine. Incorporate exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks.
  3. Incorporate some form of cardio into your routine, such as running, cycling, or swimming. Aim for 20 to 30 minutes three times a week.
  4. Incorporate yoga or stretching into your routine. This will help improve flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.
  5. Challenge yourself and try something new. Sign up for a class or try a new sport to keep your routine interesting.

What Are The Health Benefits of Increased Physical Activity

  1. Improved Cardiovascular Health: Regular physical activity can help strengthen your heart and improve your circulation. This, in turn, can help reduce your risk of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, heart attack, and high blood pressure.
  2. Stronger Bones and Muscles: Physical activity can help build strong bones and muscles, which can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions. Regular exercise can also help strengthen your muscles and improve your balance, coordination, and flexibility.
  3. Weight Management: Regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight. It can also help you lose weight if you’re overweight or obese.
  4. Improved Mental Health: Physical activity can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and boost overall mental health.
  5. Better Sleep: Regular physical activity can help you sleep better and feel more energized during the day.

Why Do New Year’s Resolutions Fail

New Year’s resolutions often fail because they are too ambitious and not realistic. People usually make too broad resolutions or require too much change too quickly.

Additionally, people often lack a plan to help them achieve their goals or stay motivated.

Many people also don’t track their progress, so they don’t have any way of knowing if they’re making progress or not.

Finally, life can get in the way of achieving goals, such as unexpected events, changes in circumstances, or feeling overwhelmed.
