Symptoms of Depression

What are the symptoms of depression? As a person who has suffered from depression, attempted suicide once and planned a second attempt, I think it could be said I have some skin in the game.

I had been under a lot of pressure with work and finance problems at this time, and, like most men, I kept it to myself and just tried to push through the darkness threatening to engulf me. While I thought this approach had worked for me for several years, I now believe the pressure built and built until the day I snapped, and it was one comment pushed me over the edge.
