Mental Health and Overcoming Negative Thoughts

Men, in particular, are not good at opening up about mental health and overcoming negative thoughts. We think we are bulletproof and will just be able to push through whatever life throws at us.

The truth is we are not bulletproof, and when it comes to mental health, we are the last to reach out and seek help. Below are just a few points that may help you rethink the issue.

  1. Identify the negative thought: I can’t be successful.
  2. Challenge the thought: Is it impossible for me to be successful? What evidence do I have to support this thought?
  3. Reframe the thought: I can work hard and succeed if I put in the effort.
  4. Take action: Make a list of steps I can take to reach my goals. Set a timeline and start taking the steps needed to achieve success.
  5. Practice self-care: Take breaks, use relaxation techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness, and seek support from friends or family.

Movember Day

Movember is an annual event where men around the world grow out their moustaches for November to raise awareness about men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and mental health.

Participants often hold fundraisers and other activities to raise money for charities that support men’s health. It is a time to have fun while making a difference in the lives of men worldwide.

As a survivor of Prostate Cancer and attempted suicide, Movember is something close to my heart. At the same time, my passion for men’s health is evident, given this website and my social media activity.
